Lebanon’s president says talks in US will lead to ceasefire with Israel
A meeting between the Lebanese and Israeli ambassadors in Washington will open the way for bilateral contacts and lead to a new agreement on a ceasefire along the border, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said, according to TASS.
“The Lebanese negotiating team will work with the aim of stopping all military operations and implementing practical steps to stabilize the situation in southern Lebanon,” he said.
According to Aoun, there is now an opportunity to reach a stable settlement under US sponsorship, which Lebanon is seeking.
