US embassy welcomes announcement on lifting Armenia-Turkey bilateral trade restrictions

The United States welcomes the announcement on lifting bilateral trade restrictions between Armenia and Turkey, the US embassy in Armenia said in a statement.

“This step demonstrates both countries’ commitment to expanding economic connectivity, and promoting lasting peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus region. We commend Armenia and Türkiye for their continued efforts toward strengthening cooperation that benefits all peoples of the region,” the embassy stated.

The statement comes after Turkey’s foreign ministry announced on Tuesday that the bureaucratic preparations required to launch direct trade between Armenia and Turkey had been completed.
