Erdoğan in Astana stresses need to develop ‘Middle Corridor’

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, after meeting with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Astana, reported that they discussed a wide range of cooperation opportunities in the energy sector, from the exploitation of hydrocarbon deposits to the transportation of minerals.

He spoke about strengthening the foundations of energy security and diversifying energy sources.

“We want a larger volume of oil from Kazakhstan to reach global markets via our country. We are working on reviving the Middle Corridor via the Caspian Sea, integrating our railway connections, port infrastructure, and digitalized customs systems. Our goal remains not only to bring our countries closer together, but also to make the Eurasian region more competitive in the global economy,” Erdoğan said.
