Preliminary election results point more to Pashinyan’s defeat than victory, Kosachev says
According to Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of Russia, the preliminary results of the elections in Armenia indicate more of a defeat for Nikol Pashinyan’s party than a victory, RIA Novosti reports.
The ruling Civil Contract party, led by Pashinyan, failed to secure 50% of the vote in the country’s parliamentary elections.
The senator also noted that forming a single-party majority government in Armenia requires at least 52% of the vote.
