Pentagon chief says Churchill, de Gaulle or Adenauer didn’t expect Europe to be dependent on US

Europe was not supposed to be a dependency of the United States, US War Secretary Pete Hegseth has said.

“That’s not what Winston Churchill, Charles de Gaulle, or Konrad Adenauer wanted or expected,” the Pentagon chief stated.

“Europe was supposed to be a military power allied with a strong America.”
