CSTO Secretary General: The nature of warfare and conflicts around the world has changed dramatically

The nature of warfare and conflicts around the world has changed dramatically, with drones and robots increasingly being used.

This was stated by Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Secretary General Taalatbek Masadykov during a briefing in Moscow, RIA Novosti reports.

“The nature of warfare and conflicts around the world has changed dramatically. Traditional methods of warfare are taking a back seat. The use of drones and robots, as well as various types of drones — reconnaissance drones, strike drones, and those used for target acquisition — is now coming to the forefront,” Masadykov said.

He was responding to a question about cyber threats and countermeasures, noting that this is a new area of focus for the CSTO.
