Lavrov says Russia ready to take all measures to defend Belarus and Union State

Russia will assist Belarus in the event of external aggression, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, according to RIA Novosti.

“We are ready to take all measures stipulated by the treaty to ensure the security of our ally and, of course, the security of the Union State,” Lavrov said during the 12th Ambassadors’ Roundtable held at the Diplomatic Academy.

The diplomat called Volodymyr Zelensky’s demand to “restore order” in Belarus outrageous. He added that attempts are being made to directly draw Minsk into the conflict by expanding the geographical scope of military operations.
