George and Amal Clooney forced to evacuate French home due to wildfires

George Clooney and his wife, Amal Clooney, have been forced to evacuate from their home in Brignoles, in the south of France, as wildfires continue to ravage the region, Euronews writes.

The Clooneys and their two children permanently reside in the small town in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region – a home they bought in 2021. They were granted French citizenship last year.

Clooney and family have “no idea whether our beautiful home makes it through this terrible moment,” they wrote in a letter to Brignoles Mayor Didier Brémond, as seen by People.

The letter added: “As we evacuate Brignoles, we want to emphasize two things. First, we hope you and the people of our city are safe and second that Amal and I are committed to making sure that whatever happens to our village, we are part of this community and we’ll be part of making it whole.”

The Clooneys concluded: “We love Brignoles and our friends who live there.”

France is currently under threat from wildfires, with nearly 224,000 people evacuated in the Gironde region of France. The largest blaze, burning near Bordeaux, has destroyed more than 42,000 hectares – an area roughly four times the size of Paris.
