US faces difficult situation due to weapons shortages, Hillary Clinton says

The United States has expended too many weapons during its conflict with Iran, leaving Washington in a difficult position, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said at an event hosted by the Hampton Institute.

“We have expended so much ammunition in Iran, and we have certainly sent large quantities of ammunition to our allies in the Gulf. So we are in a difficult position because we cannot adequately respond to unexpected threats. We have dug ourselves into a deep hole,” she said.

US media have previously reported that American weapons stockpiles have fallen to record-low levels amid the conflict with Iran. The depleted stocks include Patriot missiles, Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense systems, as well as long-range ATACMS and PrSM missiles.
