CSTO Secretary General: Yerevan remains an ally and continues its activities in the organization
The member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) maintain the line of developing allied relations with Armenia; Yerevan remains an ally and continues its activities in the organization. CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov wrote this in an article published in “Mezhdunarodnaya Zhizhn” magazine.
“The organization was ready to send a peacekeeping mission to observe the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, but in the final stages, Yerevan asked to take the relevant document off the agenda in connection with the conclusion of a peace treaty with Baku. All the same, Armenia continues its activities in the organization; Yerevan’s multilateral contacts within the CSTO are carried out in a working mode. Armenia has been and remains an ally. The CSTO member states, in turn, keep to the line of development of allied relations with Armenia,” Tasmagambetov wrote.
He noted that the current international situation determines the need for further development of the legal base regulating the directions of the CSTO activities, clarification of fundamental documents and their adjustment to new realities, and more detailed mechanisms and tools for making managerial decisions in the organization.
