Japan will not recognize the results of the Russian presidential elections in the territories that Tokyo considers Ukrainian. Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi said this.
“I would like to refrain from commenting on the elections in Russia,” he said, noting that Tokyo considers the inclusion of some territories in Russia a violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He did not specify what regions he meant.
The Japanese official reiterated Tokyo’s position on the situation in Ukraine, saying that they intend to keep providing assistance to Kyiv and maintain sanctions against Moscow, which Russia has repeatedly called illegitimate and ineffective.
