Turkish nationalist Ogun Samast, who killed Hrant Dink, the
founder and editor-in-chief of the Istanbul-based Armenian newspaper Agos, has
been released from prison.
He was arrested on Jan. 24, 2007 after Dink’s
assassination.
Samast has been granted an early release “for good
conduct”.
Ogun Samast, was a minor when he committed the crime. He was
sentenced to 15 years in prison on charges of “premeditated murder” and
“criminal possession of a weapon”.
In 2020, he was sentenced to an additional 4 years in prison
for attacking prison guards.
