Israel has agreed to provide security for the temporary pier the U.S. military is planning to build in the Gaza Strip to deliver humanitarian aid to civilians, Politico writes, citing two U.S. officials.
Israel has agreed to establish a security bubble to protect the neighborhood and the individuals involved in offloading and distributing the aid. Politico’s sources said the plans to do that are now being discussed, but have not been finalized. A third country may provide support, depending on where the pier is built.
An Israel Defense Force spokesperson confirmed the information, saying that they “will be coordinating with the U.S. military to facilitate the project indeed”, but refused to provide details.
