Zakharova: What is the CSTO supposed to do when the Armenian authorities themselves are ceding the settlements to Azerbaijan?

We regret that the Armenian authorities continue to publicly criticize the CSTO. And they do not just criticize; they do it without grounds, and they do so when the CSTO Secretariat has publicly said that it meets all its obligations toward Armenia. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said this at a press briefing.

“It is beneficial for Yerevan that the CSTO accepts national sovereignty, unlike Western military and political alliances. The Armenian leadership itself admits that throughout the border delimitation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, border lines need to be clarified, and issues regarding the disputed territories, i.e., enclaves, need to be decided. What is the CSTO supposed to do when the Armenian authorities themselves are ceding the settlements to Azerbaijan? Is that also a responsibility that lies with the CSTO?

Individual countries and the collective West are deliberately entering the region to destabilize it, gather information, and derive economic benefits. All the same, their main goal is to destabilize the region in all directions, which upsets the balance of power in the region and disturbs peaceful coexistence and negotiations,” Zakharova noted.
