Hungary blocks aid to Armenia from EU Peace Facility

Hungary has blocked the program of providing assistance to Armenia from the European Peace Facility, over which there was an initial agreement in the organization. As the diplomatic sources of Azatutyun report, Hungary demands that Azerbaijan be included in the program, a matter that, according to the same source, is on the table so that the deadlock can be broken.

In mid-April, Azatutyun found out that a preliminary agreement had been reached in Brussels on the provision of €10 million in aid to Armenia from the European Peace Facility. According to diplomatic documents, the money was supposed to create a field modular camp for one battalion, which should have included one aid station as well.

“This aid aims to help the Armenian Armed Forces increase their resilience and capacity for sustainability and thereby better protect the civilian population during crises and emergencies,” reads the document, the adoption of which Hungary has been blocking for several weeks.
