Values should be fostered in the classrooms named after our heroes—values that will teach generations to lead the country not on the path of destruction, but on the path of growth. Genesis Armenia Think Tank and Foundation opened an interactive classroom in Yerevan Basic School #196 named after Ashot Navasardyan.

The classroom will bear the name of Ashot Matevosyan, who fell in the 44-day war. His three children study at that school.

“We should work on all fronts, but we need to start from schools, to have educated and well-mannered students holding a certain value system,” Director of Genesis Armenia Think Tank and Foundation Abraham Gasparyan noted.

According to Gasparyan, the opening of this classroom on Ashot’s birthday was not accidental at this crucial stage for the country. Ashot was born in Tavush, whose fate is being decided today.

Ashot Matevosyan’s parents, children, and wife were also present at the opening ceremony. They remembered the hero and told different stories about him.

The classroom is equipped with 12 computers, 12 laptops, a smart board and a printer. “Thanks to the interactive classroom, the students already have the opportunity to make lessons more interesting, effective and accessible,” School Director Anush Navasardyan said.

The classroom is designed for all grades.

The initiative was implemented with the support of Genesis Armenia and Khoren Mardoyan, a member of the United Armenian Council of Ontario.
