Blinken: Washington is considering Armenia’s “series of requests” to support it

The U.S. is considering Armenia’s “series of requests” to determine what steps it can take to support Yerevan. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said this at a hearing of the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs.

“We are considering a number of requests from Armenia to determine what else we can do to step up our support and cooperation with Armenia,” Blinken said, without elaborating on what the requests were.

Blinken also noted that in early April, he had a meeting with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan in Brussels. According to him, these talks were held so that they could find out what else the U.S. and the EU can do “to support Armenia”.

“And we are going to move forward in a number of spheres,” Blinken said, not giving details.

He also expressed hope that Armenia and Azerbaijan will sign a peace treaty.
