The Pentagon will need about $1.2 billion to maintain warships stationed in the Red Sea and replenish missile supplies used to repel Iranian and Houthi attacks, Bloomberg writes, referring to budget documents.
In addition, the U.S. Department of Defense is requesting $276 million for the purchase of additional SM-6 ballistic missiles and $57.3 million for the purchase of Tomahawk cruise missiles.
The request refers to “the Department of Defense expenditure in the area of responsibility of the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) regarding the situation in Israel or hostilities in the region that are directly connected with the situation in Israel,” the agency noted.
