Russia says Armenia should end ‘deceptive’ policy over EU accession bid
Armenia is not consulting its EAEU allies on preparations for joining the European Union, Mikael Aghasandyan, director of the First CIS Department at Russia’s Foreign Ministry, told RIA Novosti.
“We see significant risks associated with Armenia’s legally mandated preparations for EU accession. Notably, the Armenian authorities are carrying out these preparations without any consultations with their EAEU allies,” Aghasandyan said.
Meanwhile, Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, said: “Armenia should stop pursuing a deceptive policy of seeking to join the European Union while continuing to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the Eurasian Economic Union.”
He described Armenia’s approach as cynical and wrong.
