Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met with Keir Starmer, the prime minister of the United Kingdom. Aliyev noted that this is Starmer’s first visit to Azerbaijan, highlighting its significance in Azerbaijan-U.K. relations and noting that the visit is historical.
During the meeting, Starmer inquired about the peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Aliyev stated that negotiations are under way and a significant part of the treaty has already been settled; over 12 kilometers of the border have been delimited and demarcated. According to Aliyev, during the commissions’ latest meeting, the parties agreed to continue this process.
However, the Azerbaijani president highlighted the importance of removing “territorial claims against Azerbaijan” from the Armenian Constitution.
Aliyev stressed the importance of preparing the nations for peace to continue the peace process and sign the peace treaty.
