Putin: I haven’t met Assad yet, but I plan to

Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that he has not yet seen former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad since he arrived in Moscow but intends to speak with him.

“I have not yet met with President Assad, but I plan to do so,” the Russian leader said during his annual press conference.

Putin also mentioned that he does not yet know whether Russia will withdraw its bases from Syria, as this depends on the alignment of interests with the new authorities.
