Israel strikes Southern Lebanon again, 2 killed

An attack by Israeli military aircraft on the village of Zibqin in southern Lebanon has resulted in the deaths of two people, with two Syrian workers injured, Armenpress writes, referring to Syria TV․

According to the publication, Israel targeted an excavator engaged in agricultural work.

The Lebanese National News Agency reported that an Israeli military helicopter fired a missile toward the town of Ayta ash-Shaab; the missile, however, did not explode.

Israeli forces have launched artillery and incendiary bombs toward the town of Houla, and have also targeted the municipality of Taybeh.

Since October 2023, alongside military operations in the Gaza Strip, a border confrontation had begun between Hezbollah and Israel. By Sept. 23, 2024, this had escalated into a large-scale war, resulting in over 4,000 deaths and 17,000 injuries in Lebanon.

Despite a ceasefire agreement that came into effect on Nov. 27, 2024, mutual accusations of violating the ceasefire continue.

Israel has not completed the withdrawal of its forces from southern Lebanon and continues to control five key hills in the region.
