Schengen visa fees to hike from June

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia has announced an increase in the amount of fees for issuing Schengen visas for a short stay. The new rules will come into effect worldwide on June 11, the Slovenian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The cost of Schengen visa type C will increase by 12%; it will be €90 for adult applicants, €45 for applicants under 12, and the fee for Schengen visa applications will not be charged for children under six years old. Currently, the consular fee is €80 for adults and €40 for children between 6 and 12 years old.

The European Commission reviews the costs of Schengen visas every three years, based on inflationary trends and the average salaries of civil servants in the EU. The Schengen zone includes 27 European countries. In 2023, Russian citizens submitted 520,400 applications for Schengen visas. The denial rate was 10.6%.
