US Secretary of State Blinken mentions Armenia at Senate hearings
During the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations hearing
on the issue of providing additional $106 billion to the U.S. national security
sector, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken mentioned Armenia among the
countries receiving aid, Voice of America reports.
“This allocation will allow us to address dire humanitarian
needs, caused by autocrats and terrorists, as well as by the conflicts and
natural disasters in Ukraine, Gaza, Sudan, Armenia and elsewhere around the
world. Food, water, medicine and other essentials must reach Gaza without
hindrance. Civilians should not be exposed to danger. The problem further
deteriorates as Hamas is using civilians as human shields. Humanitarian
ceasefires should be considered,” Blinken said at the hearings presided over by
Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee Patty Murray.
Antony Blinken also noted that in the absence of steady flow
of humanitarian aid during the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, tensions are
likely to grow.
