Turkey has formally asked to join BRICS as it seeks to bolster its global influence and forge new ties beyond its traditional Western allies, Bloomberg writes, referring to its sources.
According to Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s administration, the center of geopolitical gravity is moving away from developed economies, the interlocutors said, wishing to remain anonymous.
Earlier, Azerbaijan had also applied to join BRICS and received the support of Russia.
