Zelensky has not earned a respite: Moscow responds to the Ukrainian leader
Russia wants long-term peace rather than a temporary ceasefire. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated this while commenting on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's proposal for a 60-day ceasefire, TASS reports.
Peskov noted that Russia strives not for a temporary pause, but for long-term peace, and is prepared to do everything necessary to achieve it. The Kremlin spokesman added that Russia is grateful to the American negotiators for their efforts regarding the Ukrainian issue.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, for his part, stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has not earned a respite in combat operations.
"I do not think he has earned a respite," the head of the diplomatic department noted.
According to him, the goals of the special military operation remain unchanged, and Moscow will continue to pursue them.
It should be noted that Zelenskyy declared Ukraine's readiness to hold elections if Russia agrees to a 60-day ceasefire.
