Again Azerbaijan does not allow to transport Helen Dadasyan’s body to Artsakh

The body of Helen Dadasyan, who died in the tragic road
accident on the highway from Yerevan to Gyumri, is still in the morgue in
Goris.

Although a few days ago an agreement was reached to
transport the body, as soon as the girl’s body was brought to the illegal
checkpoint, the Azerbaijani side refused to allow the transportation.

They said that the Red Cross will be allowed to transport the
girl’s body on condition that the Republic of Azerbaijan is mentioned as the
final destination. Helen’s uncle, Mushegh said this to ABC Media.

“For Helen’s family, it does not matter, even if Mozambique
is mentioned as a final destination. It does not matter. They are merely
hampering the process, while the Republic of Armenia does not deal with the
matter. I am not sure if they care about it or not. The Armenian side has not
responded to the issue in any way,” Helen’s uncle said.

As he noted, the girl’s body should have been transported to
Artsakh last Saturday. However, at the last moment, Azerbaijan moved the matter
within the province of the Red Cross.

“The Red Cross does what Baku tells it to do,” Safaryan
said.

ABC Media also talked to ICRC Communication and Prevention
Programs Manager Zara Amatuni to find out why they have not managed to
transport Helen’s body.

“I cannot reveal the confidential discussions that we have
had with the sides. As for us, we have displayed willingness and have
negotiated with the sides. However, now it is beyond our power to make a final
decision; we can only mediate the issue. If the sides come to an agreement, we
are ready to transport the body. However, that agreement has not been reached
yet,” Amatuni noted.

To remind, 12 people died in the tragic road accident on the
highway from Yerevan to Gyumri a month ago. Helen Dadasyan from Artsakh was
among the victims. Attempts to transport her body to Artsakh have not succeeded
yet.
