
Investigative journalist’s car bombed in Rome
In Rome, the car of Italian journalist Sigfrido Ranucci, host of RAI’s investigative program “Report”, was blown up, The New York Times reports.
No one was injured in the incident.
According to police, the explosion occurred near Ranucci’s home, damaging several vehicles and the front of the building. Ranucci’s daughter was walking nearby at the time but managed to leave the area a few minutes before the blast.
Investigators are considering the possibility of terrorism. Preliminary reports suggest the explosives may have been placed under the journalist’s car.
Ranucci is known for his investigations into corruption, mafia connections, and abuses within government institutions and major businesses. He has previously been under protection due to threats and attempted attacks. The journalist himself stated that the explosion is connected to a new series of reports he was going to broadcast.
