Russia’s foreign ministry says Yerevan and Baku provided significant assistance in evacuating Russian citizens from Iran

Yerevan and Baku have provided significant assistance in the evacuation of Russian citizens from Iran, Alexey Klimov, Director of the Consular Department of Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told TASS.

“Armenia and Azerbaijan have provided substantial support in the evacuation of our compatriots from Iran. For example, Baku allowed Russian citizens to use the Astara border crossing, which has been closed to individual crossings since 2020, following a prior request from the Russian Embassy in Tehran,” the diplomat stated.
