Azerbaijani and Indian Foreign Ministers discuss normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar exchanged views on the regional situation in the South Caucasus, the post-conflict normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and the agreements reached in Washington.
“We discussed goods being shipped from Azerbaijan to Armenia, as well as mutual visits. I also conveyed to my counterpart our expectations of Armenia regarding the completion of this process,” the Azerbaijani foreign minister said.
Jaishankar said, that India welcomes the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
According to Jaishankar, India is closely monitoring developments in the South Caucasus and welcomes the peace agreements reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan in August last year.
“We hope this will lead to lasting peace. India’s position is clear: disputes must be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy,” the minister said.
According to Bayramov, the two sides also exchanged views on developments across the wider region, including the situation in the Middle East, the Russia-Ukraine war, and other issues.
