Trump says 20-year halt of Iran’s nuclear activity could be acceptable

Responding to a journalist’s question on whether the United States had rejected Iran’s latest offer and what stage it was at, Trump said that if he does not like the first sentence of a document, he simply discards it.

“What was the first sentence?” the reporter asked.

“An unacceptable sentence,” Trump replied, adding that if any form of nuclear capability is mentioned in the document, he does not read any further.

He also said that the US had concluded a ceasefire with Iran at the request of other nations.

“I wouldn’t have really been in favor of it, but we did it as a favor to Pakistan — terrific people, the field marshal and the prime minister,” Trump stated.

Trump further noted that a 20-year halt to Iran’s nuclear activity would be acceptable to him, stressing that “it’s got to be a real 20 years.”
