Iran condemns US attacks and threats against region’s countries

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei strongly condemned what he described as US military aggression against areas of Bandar Abbas earlier today.

Baghaei stated that these aggressive actions against Iran’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty constitute a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter. He added that the UN Security Council is obligated to fulfill its legal responsibility by holding the American aggressors accountable.

Referring to the continuing US violations of the April 8 ceasefire, particularly actions against commercial vessels in the Persian Gulf and international waters, as well as airstrikes targeting southern regions of Iran in recent days, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson stressed that Iran remains determined to take all necessary measures to defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter.

Baghaei also condemned what he described as threatening rhetoric by American officials directed against Iran and several other countries in the region, while expressing support for Oman.

“The threat to ‘destroy’ a UN member state — one that has consistently played a constructive, effective, and responsible role in maintaining regional peace and security and has served for many years as a mediator in diplomatic processes — is a violation of the fundamental principle prohibiting the threat of the use of force. It is another dangerous sign of treating the violation of international law and the imposition of force as a normal phenomenon in international relations,” Baghaei said.
