Rubio says there cannot be world where only Iran controls access to key straits

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said the US remains the only global superpower, the most powerful country on the planet.

“We have the largest economy, the most powerful military that has ever existed, our dollar remains the world’s reserve currency. Our language is widely spoken around the world,” the senior American official said.

He noted that the world cannot be one where only Iranian ships are allowed to pass through the straits.

“If they are going to close the straits to everyone, we will close the straits to them as well,” the US secretary of state said.
