Trump thanks Morocco for naming highway in his honor
US President Donald Trump has thanked Morocco’s King Mohammed VI after the country named a major new highway in his honor, Forbes reports.
“Thank you to Highly Respected Mohammed VI, the King of Morocco — Such a Great Honor!” Trump wrote on Truth Social, sharing a video of the highway named “President Donald J. Trump Highway.”
“I look forward to traveling the entire length of this Great Highway someday, hopefully soon!” Trump wrote.
The highway stretches 1,055 kilometers, connecting the city of Tiznit to Laayoune and Dakhla, both in the Moroccan-controlled disputed territory of Western Sahara.
The accompanying video thanked Trump for his “historic courage”—Trump previously supported Morocco’s claim to Western Sahara in 2025 and during his first term.
The dispute over Western Sahara is primarily between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Polisario Front movement.
