Putin: The Russian military base in Gyumri will not be in Armenia tomorrow if Yerevan is not interested

The Russian military base in Gyumri will not be in Armenia tomorrow if Yerevan is not interested, Russian President Vladimir Putin told reporters in Bishkek.

Putin arrived in Kyrgyzstan the day before, where he participated in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit and held a number of bilateral meetings.

“If Armenia believes that Armenia doesn’t need the Russian base, we will leave tomorrow. But is Armenia ready for this? We won’t impose anything on anyone. And if the Armenian people want some kind of Russian military wing nearby, then we will stay, work, and cooperate,” Putin noted.
