The body of Portuguese ambassador to Bulgaria found after she fails to show up for work

The body of Portugal’s ambassador to Bulgaria, Ana Maria Ribeiro da Silva, has been found at her residence in Sofia.

According to media reports, the 66-year-old diplomat did not come to work, after which embassy staff found her body at home. The likely cause of death is a heart attack.

She had been serving as the Portuguese ambassador to Bulgaria since December 2020.
