Economist: One of the reasons for the economic growth in Armenia is the international sanctions against Russia 7

The ruling political power of Armenia keeps claiming that
they have achieved double-digit economic growth. They stated this at the
National Assembly as well. The MPs from the Civil Contract Party are not even
bothered about the fact that economists come up with the counterevidence. This
very economic growth is caused by external factors, which have nothing to do
with the policies of the RA government.

“This 12.6% economic growth was mainly caused by a random
external factor. This is due to the favorable economic environment created as a
result of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Why am I calling this factor random?
Because it was external and had nothing to do with our economic capacity,”
Economist, NA MP Tadevos Avetisyan said to ABC Media.

One of the reasons for the economic growth in Armenia is the
international sanctions against Russia. However, the authorities are convinced
that this is not the case; they claim that tourism has developed.

“They call it tourism, but the reality of the situation is
that Russian citizens came to Armenia; our exports to Russia doubled. This was
not because our product quality improved, but because we exported products that
Russia could not import from other countries, being under economic sanctions,”
Avetisyan noted.

The economist says the claim of the ruling party that they
have created conditions for economic growth does not correspond to reality.

The greatest part of the Sotk gold mine is controlled by the
enemy, the metallurgical plant in Yeraskh, being constructed through foreign
investments, is under fire, and the mountains of Jermuk are in the hands of the
Turks. A number of mines located in the sovereign territory of Armenia and
major tourist attractions are either under Azerbaijani control or targeted by
Azerbaijan. All of these constitute obstacles for economic growth. However, the
authorities do not seem to be bothered about it.

Tadevos Avetisyan referred to economic security factors
several times at the economic committee session in the National Assembly.
Instead, he received manipulative responses from the authorities.

Avetisyan is concerned about the fact that nowadays, it is
the issue of living well that worries people and not the struggle to
live.

The economist says that the authorities, that promised to
eliminate poverty, have not fulfilled any of their pre-election promises.
Instead, we suffer only losses and pain.
