Maria Zakharova compares US embassies’ responses to protests in Armenia and Georgia

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova made a Telegram post, drawing attention to the reactions of the U.S. embassies to the demonstrations in Yerevan and Tbilisi.

If the Armenian demonstrators were asked to refrain from violence and the law enforcement agencies to preserve public order, in the case of Georgia, the U.S. embassy emphasized the inadmissibility of the actions of state officials toward the demonstrators.

“Here is what democracy means. In one case, Washington declares through its embassy that the rallies should be held responsibly and does not condemn the authorities for suppressing them, while in the other case, on the contrary, it actively supports the unrest caused by Western foreign agents. The U.S. changes any “rule” with a wave of its hand to suit itself,” Zakharova wrote.
