Keir Starmer officially takes over as British prime minister
The leader of the British Labour Party, Sir Keir Starmer, has officially become the 58th prime minister of the U.K., The Guardian writes.
Starmer arrived at Buckingham Palace, where he was received by King Charles III.
Buckingham Palace issued a statement noting that Rishi Sunak met the King this morning and submitted his resignation as prime minister, which His Majesty accepted.
Starmer’s Labour Party won a majority in the House of Commons in snap parliamentary elections, ending 14 years of Conservative rule in the country.
