Russian orientalist: Russia found itself in an awkward situation after Armenia recognized Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan

The people of Nagorno-Karabakh were the most pro-Russian
people in the region. However, now it is no longer the case. As Sputnik Armenia
reports, Russian Orientalist Viktor Nadein-Raevsky said this.

He believes that Russia found itself in an awkward situation
after Armenia recognized Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan.

“In these 30 years, when Russia has been busy doing nothing,
the Turkish government has been actively working in the post-Soviet territory.
Turkey has opened about 200 universities in the post-Soviet republics, and
thousands of young people have been taught Ottoman history, and not Russian
history” he said.

In turn, the tandem of Turkey and Azerbaijan cleverly picked
the time when Russia was not strong enough to go to another war. According to
Nadein-Raevsky, the only thing the peacekeepers could do was to evacuate the
Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh so that they would not be killed there.
