2 Chinese nationals killed and 1 injured in ‘terror attack’ in Pakistan

The Chinese embassy in Pakistan said at least two of its nationals were killed and one was injured in an attack on their convoy near Karachi airport.

According to Pakistan Geo News, at least 10 people were injured.

The Chinese embassy condemned the “terror attack” and asked the “Pakistani side to thoroughly investigate the attack, severely punish the perpetrators, and take all necessary measures to protect the safety of Chinese citizens, institutions and projects in Pakistan.”

A rescue service employee reported that 10 cars were damaged and four were destroyed in the explosion.

In an earlier emailed statement to reporters, the militant group Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack and said an improvised explosive device was used.

BLA wants independence for Balochistan and is part of a wider insurgency in Pakistan’s largest and least populated province, which borders Iran and Afghanistan.
