The transforming South Caucasus: Kobakhidze supports Trump, NATO holds exercises in Georgia, while Armenia signs a new agreement with the US
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has expressed support for the actions of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump in combating the “deep state,” while condemning liberal fascism. Kobakhidze stated, “Trump’s program to fight the ‘deep state’ will help ensure peace and spread proper and healthy values.”
Kobakhidze believes that this will also help normalize relations between Georgia and the U.S. He added that Trump’s inauguration will be pivotal for both the U.S. and the world due to the spread of “fake-liberal propaganda.”
“Liberal fascism is a problem for our country, (…) and it has also evolved in the past four years,” Kobakhidze stated.
Previously, it was reported that from April 28 to May 8, NATO command-staff exercises will be held in Krtsanisi, near Tbilisi, involving NATO member countries. Several NATO countries—as well as Azerbaijan and Armenia as observers—have confirmed their participation in the exercises.
The Telegram channel Military Chronicle noted that the resumption of large-scale exercises at the Krtsanisi training center is a troubling signal, indicating the emergence of a new tension in the South Caucasus for Russia. The author pointed out that all of this is happening amid Armenia’s potential announcement to withdraw from the CSTO, as well as the signing of a strategic partnership agreement between Armenia and the U.S., with all its ensuing consequences.
