‘People’s soldiers’: Chinese soldiers help mothers babysit young children
Videos of Chinese soldiers helping look after young children often go viral online, whether it’s holding a baby, entertaining a toddler, or keeping an eye on a child for a few minutes in a busy public place.
Part of the reason is the military’s longstanding visibility in civilian life. Chinese soldiers are often referred to as “the people’s soldiers”, a term that reflects the idea that they serve and interact closely with the public, China Minutes writes.
As a result, many people view them as approachable and trustworthy figures in everyday situations.
