Sputnik Azerbaijan and Turan Information Agency to close in Azerbaijan

According to Azerbaijani media reports, Sputnik Azerbaijan and the Turan Information Agency are set to close in the country. The official statement cites “persistent financial difficulties” as the reason for the shutdown of the Turan Information Agency.

The Baku branch of Russia Today, which operates under the name Sputnik Azerbaijan, employs around 40 people. According to Azerbaijani media, the branch is expected to be dissolved, and Russia Today will continue to operate in Azerbaijan with one correspondent.
