EU Council expanding its monitoring mission in Armenia

The EU Mission in Armenia made an X post, welcoming the decision of the EU Council to expand its mission in Armenia.

“Welcoming the EU Council Decision on enlargement of the EUMA. The increase in mission personnel underlines the EU’s commitment to peace and security in the region,” reads the post.

The decision published on the EU website states that “the financial reference amount intended to cover the expenditure related to EUMA for the period from 23 January 2023 until 19 February 2025 shall be EUR 39 035 890,24”.

To remind, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell announced in December 2023 that the EU would increase the number of its monitors in Armenia from 138 to 209.
