On Feb. 1, at the invitation of Xavier Bertrand, the president of the Regional Council of Hauts-de-France, Armenian Ambassador in France Hasmik Tolmajyan and Representative of Artsakh Hovhannes Gevorgyan attended the first 2024 plenary session of the Hauts-de-France Regional Council. President Bertrand and the members of the Council reaffirmed their solidarity with the people of Armenia and Artsakh, condemning the Azerbaijani encroachments on the territory of Armenia and the ethnic cleansing against Artsakh Armenians.
The Regional Council of Hauts-de-France also unanimously endorsed the resolution adopted by the French Senate on Jan. 17. The resolution condemns Azerbaijan’s military attack on Artsakh and demands that the exercise of the Armenian population’s right to return to Artsakh be ensured.
