Zakharova: Armenia is turning into an extremely dangerous instrument in the hands of the West

The upcoming Armenia-EU-U.S. meeting has caused concern in Russia, as the U.S. and the EU openly talk about the anti-Russian orientation of Armenia. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said this.

According to the diplomat, such meetings are a cause of concern to most of the countries of the region, as they are not aimed at establishing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, but at “driving the West with its extremely destructive approaches into the South Caucasus”.

Zakharova noted that the West is trying to create new rifts, forcing the countries of the region to follow the anti-Russian line.

“Why Yerevan professes not to understand what we are talking about is a big question. Before the eyes of the whole world, Armenia is being turned into an instrument in the hands of the West for its extremely dangerous plans, which is totally against the fundamental interests of the Armenian people,” Zakharova said.

To remind, a tripartite meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen is scheduled for April 5 in Brussels.
