Russian Foreign Ministry: The Baltic states are bad advisers for Armenia

Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry A. E. Nastasin said that Russia followed the repeated anti-Russian statements of the leaders of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia made during the visits of Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and President of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan.

Nastasin said the leaders of the Baltic states have tried to impose their experience of the so-called diversification of foreign policy on Armenia. According to the official, the Baltic states, on the order of Washington, are trying to use the former Soviet states against Russia.

Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia play an extremely destructive role in the South Caucasus.

Nastasin expressed hope that the example of Georgia will be a lesson for Yerevan.

“If something does not go according to the wishes of the Baltic countries, the curators who want to move Yerevan to the Euro-Atlantic field will pour a stream of instructions on Armenia on how to act. Now they want to tear Armenia away from Russia, to remove it from our common integration mechanisms, including the CSTO,” Nastasin said, adding that perhaps it is not worth giving up the mechanisms that ensure the social and economic stability of the country in favor of the West.

“One should not be comforted by the fact that the EU is ready to provide a bright future for Armenia. It is clear that the Baltic states are bad advisers in this matter,” the official noted.
