The situation in Beirut is quite tense and explosive. We do not know what may happen in the next moment, Lebanese-Armenian journalist Tsovak Tazyan told ABCmedia.
“We don’t know how long Israel can continue the strikes. The situation is really very difficult. There are hundreds of migrants in Beirut. The number is so large that the state cannot accommodate them. They live in schools, not in that good conditions. It is quite difficult to accommodate them. Imagine, Israel has been bombarding the southern parts of Lebanon for a week, and for a week in a row people have been moving to safer areas. Their number is so large that they do not even manage to accommodate in schools. We saw them on the streets,” Tazyan said.
Until now, the Armenian community is relatively safe, Tazyan said. They try to help homeless people to the best of their abilities.
“The situation is worrying, especially given that we don’t know until when and where Israel will strike. They are striking with high quality weapons; until they explode, we don’t realize that they are bombing. Lebanon launches missiles as well. The shelling is mutual. In short, it is a worrying situation,” Tazyan noted.
According to the journalist, after the ongoing negotiations in the country, it became known that Lebanon wants to move Hezbollah troops to the southern border, which will protect the city from possible attacks.
