Earthquake 6.1 occurs in Chile

An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale has struck central Chile, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre reports.

The epicenter was located 62 km southeast of the city of Curicó, which has a population of more than 100,000. The earthquake happened at a depth of 100 km.

There have been no reports of casualties or damage.
